STOP THE TRAFFIK Group has a strong history of delivering activity with vulnerable communities that reduces their risk of being trafficked into exploitation. In the current crisis, we are working with a range of ground partners to produce analyses of the war in Ukraine and what it entails for communities on the ground.
We know from observing timelines with large, unpredictable groups of people on the move (Rohingya and Syria) that initially, they are subject to high levels of short-term assistance. Trafficker groups begin to create structures to encourage higher-value individuals to go on a journey by promising them hope of a good opportunity that is, in reality, a life of exploitation.
STOP THE TRAFFIK Group often refers to our intelligence-led model. At the start of the war in Ukraine, we formulated (and published) an assessment based on data that would inform the design and delivery of our response. Below is a summary of that assessment and those that followed.
Key Judgments are a high-level intelligence assessment for policy and practice guidance. To read more about STOP THE TRAFFIK Group’s response to the War in Ukraine, click here.
Please note that these assessments are based on a combination of open-source research, input from subject matter experts on the ground, survivor accounts, and data analysis.
